Taylor Swift Sees Red

Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together Again" is something of a TS litmus test, you either adore it or hate it and if you adore it, as I do, that's it. End of story. You are a member of team Taylor. It is currently the number one song on Itunes in 25 countries so I guess I'm not alone.  Written for Will Anderson of the terrible, terrible MOR rock band Parachutes' lead singer,  it is the sort of song (I am gonna steal this line till somebody stops me with a gun) he couldn't write with a blueprint. Instead he is behind dross like "She Is Love" -a song that should be executed at dawn… no, I mean it.

"Never Ever" isn't really  even a breakup song, Taylor is too baffled by the situation, she is simply worn out with him. Plus, "the indie record cooler than mine" is a shot across the bow. You can break Taylor's heart but you can't diss her songs. That is the unforgivable shot across the brow.

This is what Taylor has to say about the upcoming release (can't remember where I got it from: ""I wrote a song called 'Red', thinking about what that means to me. All the different emotions that are written about on this album, they're all pretty much about the kind of tumultuous, crazy, insane, intense, semi-toxic relationships that I've experienced in the last two years. Spanning from intensive love, intense jealousy, confusion, those emotions are all red. There's nothing beige about any of those feelings, so I called the record Red."

I guess "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" is about the semi-toxic relationships. Speak Now was about saying what you want to say, Red about feeling what you want to feel…
