I've been a Taking Back Sunday fan for as long as I can remember.
The first time I'd heard of the band was probably in 2005, I was at Newbury Comics in the mall and came across their album Louder Now. The more I think about it, it was the best $11.99 I've ever spent. I popped that album open, stuck it into my, get this, walkman, and I was with my friends in the mall parking lot and with my headphones in, I discovered pretty much the best music on the planet. Though I've had a lot of 'favourite bands', TBS is one that I always go back to and was one of the first bands I ever really liked. So whenever I hear they have something new or another performance, I have to check it out.
Taking Back Sunday went on KROQ and performed three songs. They only made me love them more.
They did an acoustic rendition of "Best Places To Be A Mom" and it's gorgeous. It not only proves Adam Lazzarra one of my favourite singers of all time, but really does prove that even though his voice has matured, I still feel equally as pleased with it as anything else he's sung. He's seriously grown up. Not only does his facial hair make it painfully obvious, but you can just tell in the way he carries himself in this video and sings with such a quality that is seasoned with years of experience.
"Your Own Disaster" which is wicked old is my favourite out of the performances. The song's always held a special place, and the way that they do it live is lovely. Their voices show that they're holding nothing back and it's just raw emotion. Some comments say that it's not good, or that they suck now, but it's just because we're so used to the auto tune on the radio that we can't really take the time to appreciate real vocal talent, which these boys clearly possess.
The last tune, "Faith When I Let You Down" is beautiful. I can't stop listening to it. It's probably my new favourite Taking Back Sunday song. Their guitar playing is insane and beyond impressive. Adam's voice is at it's best, in my opinion. The lyrics are gorgeous. There's not a single think I don't like about it.
I sat and listened to those three songs over and over again because they continued to leave me speechless. I haven't lost all hope in the music industry, not even close because the boys in Taking Back Sunday never cease to amaze me. Their talent is reassuring, raw, and refreshing.
