Yesterday, Alyson Camus was writing about European bands who failed to crossover and she made some valid points but still… how did One direction break here and the vastly superior sine qua non of boy bands.
The 1990s phenom have had 27 hit singles in the UK and Gary Barlow, OBE, is giving his partner in crime, Robbie Williams a fight in the can you top this stakes (Williams used to win, but not right this minute).
Talking about his current # 1 single and album, the never so humble Barlow said: ": "Well you know what, I always get to this point and go 'well nothing's going to top that', and then something else comes along. But I've gotta say, it's going to take something very special to top that one."
That something might be the confirmed Take That album and single and 2013 big time tour. But what about the States…
Still no action Stateside… it is depressing, SIng isn't even released here, the EP is but not the album. What does this mean? It means his record label isn't worried about people booting it: there isn't enough interest.
I've seen Williams twice and thought he was terrific but neither Gary nor Take That and I would LOVE TO!!! And they could probably fill Beacon if not Radio City. Incidentally, the EP is dreadful (Grade: C+) though the title track is alright (Grade: B+)
