A 14 year old boy killed the boy who had bullied him for months while New York fiddled mindlessly. This is such a horrible story it is hard to find the good guys. But the murderers Mom who threw away the cellphone because she sells drugs and thought the cell might have a GPS tracking device is a damn good place to start. Or the Principal who wouldn’t do anything. Or the Police who refused to intervene. You know, there’s enough blame to go round.
Fucked My Way to The Top – Lana Del Rey – There is the famous story where Alfred Hitchcock wanted to make a movie where a huge ship is discovered with everyone on board dead –don’t know how, don’t know why, no marks nothing. He didn’t make the movie because whatever the solution was, it had to be a disappointment. Except for the names and a few of the places, the exact same thing could be said about this song: it couldn’t live up to its title and it doesn’t come close – B+
The “and I’m sticking to it” has more stickiness than the rest of the album combined, which is why it was a minor hit, though it doesn’t explain why Black Panties, is Kelly’s bestselling album in years. Maybe the album cover does that – B+
