I don’t think much of the brooding Soko’s sound, the French chanteuse has a brooding presence but not musch more. But the vdeo? A collaboration between Soko and Wren “a women’s wear brand” called “First Kiss” is awesome and sexy even if it is manufactured.

It is one of the wonderful things about the record biz. Dan Smith was a bartender writing songs on his laptop two years ago, and one, based upon the infamous city, went onto his first album. Today his life is changed forever, he is a sensation, and whether I (or you) can stand the song is irrelevant, the man hit the jukebox jackbox. PS we don’t like the song at all.

OK, where the hell is “Trumpets”? He played it at Jingle ball and it has been on the UK charts for a couple of months now, but while Jason is back with the admittedly good “Talk Dirty”, “Trumpets” is a killer hook on horns come to life.

It is January 9th and nothing has happened in the world except “Frozen” is the fourth animated soundtrack to reach the top of the Billboard 200. It follows Jack Johnson’s “Curious George” (2006), and Disney’s “Pocahontas” (1995) and “The Lion King” (1994). One of which is actually good.

Two really good songs here, “Booyah” is awesome straight up no chaser House and “Afterglow” is a very good dance track with lyrics that if they were maybe twice as good would put you in mind of Lily Allen.
