Active Viewin’: rock nyc Concert Picks Week Of March 30th, 2015

The one time I saw alt j I thought the UK Radioheads brother in arms were the worst live band I’d ever seen BUT it was crowded, it was a festival, and their pretty good second album hadn’t seen the light of day yet. This is MSG and the new album, with great songs like “Every Other Freckle” waiting to be nailed on stage, well, maybe time for another look. PS: A Monday but at least it’s not T5.

More power to young alt-J but do you think Thom Yorke is gonna topple them next week? I can’t wait to check out the numbers behind Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes although I am not expecting much because just as Thom and Nigel thought, I think the Bittorrant will spook em and the album itself is difficult in ways alt-j certainly aren’t.

Be Here Now: First Takes On New Album Releases 9-23-14

The sophomore album by the Radiohead via Coldplay Public School boys and is better than the first because it has a few more songs where they let go and a few more where their better living by science hits you deeper, show me an album with a song as great as “every Other Freckle” and I won’t sure you “Magic” – ALBUM OF THE WEEK -A-

Direct Currents Upcoming Releases This Autumn 2014

After kicking it in the head a coupla weeks ago, Direct Current decided hey, maybe retirement isn’t all its cut out to be. It isn’t easy to walk away, it digs too deep. So their gain and ours, so here is their list of upcomign releases and obviously 1989 is the one we are moost excited for but also: both alt j tracks are really good. Jerry Lee, Haerts, Annie Lennox, Jackson Browne, Prince, Gerard Way and Abba at Wembley in 1974!!
