Laura, Alisson, Madonna and Brandi all got two songs on this list, and that is while I was making a concerted effort not to get more than one song off an album. A very strong month for songs, although not for albums. I would love to see Alisson live again, but she doesn’t appear to be playing roud are way.
The Weeklings go back to the very beginning with this Beatle cover, and Allison Moorer makes her point and then some, “u” is the best song on the newbie and Evans The Death survives another day. One thing: it is the rare week where you can’t find ten really great songs.
I have my eye on the new Alisson Moorer, she was so good with her ex husband Steve Earle a coupla years ago, and given the turmoil of her last year, I wonder how deep she can cut? To the bone? For sure, it will be better than Earle’s Terraplane, if not better then her former stepson’s Absent Fathers
Allison Moorer has had and somewhat upsetting five years, from marriage to Steve Earle, to the Dukes tour, an album, a son, sadly born autistic, and now a new album in which she details the heartbreak. Otherwise, look how quiet it is till late January! Let’s hope there are some surprises out there.
