The Sword Drummer Quits, Tour Postponed -by Wyatt Marshall

The Sword, Austin, Texas’ doom/stoner metal quartet, have cancelled all dates of their tour in support of their acclaimed release Warp Riders after drummer Trivett Wingo quit the band.  They were scheduled to play Webster Hall this Saturday, so NYC metalheads will have to wait for another day to catch The Sword… not metal!
The split was amicable, with Trivett citing the trials and tribulations of touring life as his reason for departure. It’s a shame to see Trivett go—he was a founding member of The Sword and provided solid drumming on all of the band’s releases to date. He was an expert of the gallop beat and wasn’t afraid to be creative (cowbell, anyone?) or dirty up his drumming with cymbal work when fitting. Best of luck, Trivett.
The Sword have vowed to return to the road as soon as possible. Let’s hope they fit New York in towards the beginning of their revised schedule.
