Pardon the awful obligatory pun, but the Suzanne Real Band is the real deal. From the original material and sound, to the infectious enthusiasm and energy of the lead singer: this band was made to entertain.
Suzanne Real, the Omni-talented blonde vocalist and head mistress of the band, starts the night off by connecting with the crowd at the bitter end with a steady stream of comical one liners and quasi threats (warning the crowd to beware of what may or may not be flying spitballs). Her band mates behind her try to keep straight faces as she gets the crowd involved before a single note is even strummed.
When the music kicked off the first offering was “Problem with Authority”…a classic rock meets new wave ballad that had those in attendance rocking back and forth and hanging on Suzanne’s every last word. I was also very impressed with the “Kiss me Like a Man” in which male listeners are instructed to kiss their women passionately and with a strength that only a real man can posses. Suzanne owns this song much in the same way she owns the stage when she is up there. Her infectious energy and spunk reels, sorry for anohter pun, the crowd in and she does not let go.
She finished up with “21 days” a song not quite as upbeat as her other material, but does allow her powerful voice to shine through. The Suzanne Real band brings forth a freshness and originality that many music critics have found lacking in many new acts as of late. Her natural showmanship, voice, and song writing talents are all quite impressive and I expect them to carry the Suzanne Real Band onto larger venues, crowds and success.
