Its always a good time to email Iman from a show. You want to throw it into a bullet format cuz you want him to know how stuff is going-but a show is so full of emotion and distraction that sometime it comes off as sort of weird. Like the above

Ill start today with a story of how this thing rolled out

A sold out show is always somewhat nerve racking- if something falls through you can’t just slam down your credit card and scoot on in.

You’re screwed For this particular show I had 2 different companies support.

Earshot Media who was PR firm to the Take Action tour and promoting my new sons Call The Cops, and Atlantic Records who set up my interview the Mayday Parade.

Lots of email and lots of calls later it was determined that i would have my name and a photopass from Capitol records and me +1 (the Magpie) on the Take Action Press list

With me so far?

So now if I do my math I have 2 photo passes and 3 tix but only need 2. So I’m good.

I call to confirm my meet up with Mayday Parade and am greeted by their tour manager who is kind, cordial informative and decisive. Perfect.

I leave a message for Call The Cops tour manager and carry on.

I get to the venue go to the will call and I’m told I in fact have no photo pass but 2 tickets and I’m on only one list.

Fine not a problem, I figure I can ask at TM for the photo pass as my camera not only weighs a ton but costs a mint.

Simply said…

no pass

So we lock up the camera and go for it cold.

Finally hearing from Call The Cops tour manager via text we agree to meet at 6pm but no one shows. As this is now getting close to the Mayday interview we opt to reschedule for 7:45. Perfect

6:30 on the button we are ushered into Mayday Parades bus where 3 well spoken and cordial gentlemen afford us conversation and laughter. Great Guys but that’s another post.

By now its 7:00 and the line wraps around the building for entry to the club. We hear a band begin- I ring the tour manager for Call the Cops explain were still in line to enter and… well

Well nothing. Simply said we were stuck in line and I missed CTCs performance all together. This to me will be the single most disappointing part of my night. Screw the camera screw the perks screw it all. I really wanted to see Call The Cops and due to a series of unfortunate(?) events, we did not. Not so much as a note. Never was I told they were on at 7:05 or mark my words I would have been in there. And even with my call where I say I’m in line and missing them– it didn’t seem to matter. Yes they’re doing Warped Tour so I will see them, but I’m so discouraged that I didn’t tonight. At 7:45 I’m told to meet them at the merch booth for a interview. I’m told to do it right there in the center of a what amounts to a corridor. The graciousness of Will Shuck (who I hope heeds my advise and goes to a doctor) and Justin Allen (the textmaster) we attempted to conduct the interview in the men’s room. But it was locked. So we huddled in a corner and got it done. It was at that moment that I wanted to scoop up these 2 and keep them.

More on that tomorrow too.

The venue was oversold, hot and dark. I’ll leave the show review to my colleague. Ill transcribe the tapes tomorrow.

Mayday Parade are stars. They’re perfectly done, they’re going places fast. They are driven and contagious and wonderful

Call The Cops should be stars and hopefully WILL be stars. As self depreciating as they are is as endearing as I found them to be. Recorded. they are fantastic Iman please don’t miss their performance on Monday They’re first… get their early, and give them a hug for me.
