Stevie Wonder Pulls Out Of Friends Of Israel Defense Forces

Why would an Arab (me for instant) but a huge supporter of Israel? Here are some reasons.

1. To piss off my friends and family.

2. There are 3 Million Jews in Israel, surrounded by 70 Million Arabs. It isn't fair.

3. The Arab leaders use a completely bogus war with Israel to either maintain power in Aristicracys or take over via Sharia Law. Either way, it is the Arabic civillians who get shafted.

4. Unless Jews start fucking like rabbits, eventually the Arabs will destroy the race. I can't think of a worse fate for mankind than the loss of Jesus descendants.

5. Every argument against Israel stinks of anti-Semiticism. Have we really changed so much since WWII that we don't believe Europe, and the rest of the world, could turn against them.

6. A nuclear Iran is a terrifying concept.

7. Does the West really want the House of Saud as their primary friends in the region?

I could go on, but you get the point. So when I heard of rock stars like Elvis Costello cancelling tours of Israel I was disgusted. And when I heard that, due to U.N. pressure, Stevie Wonder pulled out of a benefit for "Friends Of The Israel Defense Forces", and who has played Israel often, I was frankly amazed. Wonder, who said Frank Ocean might be misguided when Frank came out as a homosexual (if that's what he did…) and then retracted the quote, Here is what Jennifer Schuessler wrote in the New York times. Subsequently, a wall of silence has come down.

Given the current and very delicate situation in the Middle East, and with a heart that has always cried out for world unity, I will not be performing at the F.I.D.F. gala,” Mr. Wonder said in a statement to Reuters. “I am and have always been against war, any war, anywhere.”

The concert, scheduled for Thursday and also featuring the producer and musician David Foster, was to raise money for this United States-based charity, whose mission, according to its Web site, is “to provide for the well-being of the men and women who serve” in the Israeli military “as well as the families of fallen soldiers.”

Mr. Wonder, who said he would be making donations to organizations that support Israeli and Palestinian children with disabilities, noted his role as a United Nations “messenger of peace” in his statement to Reuters. His scheduled appearance had also generated an online petition drive, organized by groups urging a “cultural boycott” of Israel, urging him to drop out of the concert."
