Spice Girls Viva Forever Musical To Close On The West End?

Remembered as more or less one hit wonders, sorta X Factor entrants before X Factor existed with minimum talent and, really, take a look at Spice World, not much personality either, "Wannabe" hit big but nothing else much mattered. While in the UK they were national treasures and worshiped from afar like the godlike genius they weren't.

Fast forard twenty years and somebody had the terrible idea to do a jukebox musical (an idea that has also come and gone pretty quickly) by a band who don't have more than a handful of memorable songs. "The Spice Girls may have been many things, but the authors of a back catalog packed with deathless pop classics is not among them," claimed the Guardian. "so drudgy, so sour and focused on failure" added the Daily Mail. Actually, it sounds kinda fun.

Despite the brains behind "Mama Mia" being involved., "Viva Forever" doesn't seem to have worked (I would really love to see it) and is playing to empty houses while the Daily Star claim it is gonna go belly up any time now. Producers claim  it is just being a typical winter lull and it may well be but this is very bad publicity.

Between porn movies and Olympic performances, I will say this: Spice Girls are doing a lot with very very little… as always, and really that will be forever.
