Sox And Ball And Rock And Roll by Helen Bach

Sox and Roll?

Well not really but I was assigned the task of listening to what songs accompanied ballplayers up to the plate.

I have to say (and spare me the venom) I am a hardcore Boston Red Sox fan. Yes, I know the blog name and yes yes yes whatever…

Last night we hit the game and since I’m sure you’re dying to know

Here’s what I got

Yes that organ stuff is annoying but its also tradition. For some reason its OK to play twangy country music which is a tribute to being in American at Americas game, I suppose.

First off it started with U2 “City of Blinding Lights” between the stench of burning flesh sandwiches (WTF guys cmon with that already its disgusting) Bonos voice triggered the gag reflex, but with pretzel in hand I swallowed it down and was totally psyched for the game. Great seats make all the difference by the way and yes I am showing off.

So here’s our batting order with what I could identify

Scutoro – Knights of Cydonia, Muse

Pedroia- no clue but it was rap

Martinez- sounded calypso ish and it was catchy as hell

Youk!alis- Just a Friend- Biz Markie (how cool!!)

It was awesome at the end of the first inning (though that inning sucked) to hear “Road Runner”, that song still kicks ass and unlike “Welcome To The Jungle” never gets old.

But the top 2 Boston Red Sox songs?

Mike Lowell- London Calling. I’m not kidding I did a 1 girl ‘wave’ and screamed. I’m sure people thought I was a hardcore Lowell fan. The kid slunk low in her seat.. pretty funny

and as readers know.. I am passionately and madly in love with Superman so Veritek stepping up to Kryptonite was another screamer.

Socks won.

Lifes good

Iman- you’re doing the Yanks on Friday… good luck.
