We haven’t picked on Spin in awhile, mainly because they are so dreadful it is kinda like insulting a Bono: their uselessness is a given.
But this is the definition of a slow news day, everybody has the VMA’s up the ying yang and, Helen said she might do something, and I kinda shrugged at Taylor elsewhere, but otherwise we passed.
So with NOTHING IN THE FUCKING WORLD TO WRITE ABOUT… I figured I could sneer at Spin’s taste in long players.
Jamey Johnson – The Guitar Song – Why is everybody a year late on this guy? Spin gave it 9/10… I think it kinda sucks. A huge disappointment. It’s like country people who haven’t figured out Merle Haggard has sucked for the past decade.
Linkin Park – A Thousand Suns – 6/10 but they get no brownie points for the self-evident sneer.
False Priest – Of Montreal – The one song I’ve heard was a bit whatever but hey Solange is on it so who knows. 9/10? They are gonna have to defend that call.
My Father’s Will Guide Me Up A Rope To the Sky – Swans – Spin give it an 8/10, I’d dock it two notches if onlt for the title.
Buzzard – Margot And The Nuclear So And So’s – Simone will be happy with Spin’s 8/10. I think Margot are pretty lousy.
1,000 Years – Corin Tucker – 7/10? Get the fuck outta here.
I’m Having Fun Now – Jenny And Johnny – Just a touch higher, they give it 7/10… I’d go a notch lower.
Interpol – Interpol – Hmmm, maybe I’m being too mean to Spin: a wicked 5/10.
