Singles Going Steady: Week Of August 25th, 2012

Havoc And Bright Lights – Alanis Morissette – Not quite as bad as the name implies, but pretty terrible. The first two songs are mediocre Alanis, but after that it is a dreary mess, proving how band love and marriage can be for your artistic juices. This slow, draggy, album is in serious need of an editor and while it is not always her worse, it is her worse often enough. Ten years after Under Rug Swept, this is what is left – Grade C-

Welcome To The House – Slaughterhouse – If you thought Slaughterhouse was Royce da 5' 9" cashing in on his friendship with Eminem, you were right. They are but they are more than that, a horrorcore outfit without a thought in there head except how to offend. And how to make state of the art hip hop. The two EMmnem features are the best, but none of it is bad – Grade: B+

Sweet Jamaica – Mr. Vegas – Sure, it is the Brenda Holloway cover that keeps you coming back to this 30 plus tracks double, but once you get past that track, everything else, old stuff, covers, new material, featured stars, the lot, keep you there – Grade: A

A Thing Called Divine Fits – Divine Fits –  80s inspired electro pop, an inspiration or a vanity project for Britt Daniel? One songs called "The Salton Sea". Another song is called "Would That Not Be Nice". What the fuck do you think? – Grade: C-

The Orbserver In The Star House – If this isn't massive drums plus ambient, why does it exists? – Grade: C

Kiss The Ring – DJ Khaled – Blurring the line between DJ and rapper, with guest stars galore, this is the same as it ever was, plus Mavado – Grade: B

Nocturne – WIld Nothing – I almost didn't review this. Is it worth searching out Wild Nothing, to mention that he is nothing special? I mean as this lux indie model for better living goes – Grade: B-
