Singer-Songwriter Jackie DeShannon Releases First-Ever Album of 1960s Demo Recordings for Record Store Day 4/12/25

“LOVE FOREVER – DEMO RECORDINGS 1966-68” by iconic female music innovator Jackie DeShannon is the first official release devoted entirely to her largely unissued songwriter demo recordings. The limited vinyl edition from Real Gone Records will be exclusively available on Record Store Day – April 12, 2025 – at participating independent record stores in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. The vinyl offering appears in crimson red with white swirls and includes an insert with rare photographs from DeShannon’s personal archive and extensive liner notes with a new interview. Pressed for Record Store Day only, the collectible vinyl album will be limited to 1,250 copies.

Grammy Award-winning musician Jackie DeShannon remains one of the most beloved and influential female singer-songwriters hailing from the earliest days of rock and roll. Globally recognized for her hit songs – including “Put A Little Love in Your Heart” (co-written by DeShannon, Randy Myers & Jimmy Holiday), “What the World Needs Now Is Love” and “Bette Davis Eyes” (1982 Grammy Song of the Year), DeShannon is an inductee in the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame.

DeShannon has written songs with Van Morrison, Randy Newman, Jimmy Page and John Bettis. Her compositions have been performed by Brenda Lee, Bruce Springsteen, Marianne Faithful, The Byrds, Dolly Parton, Cher, Rick Nelson, Dionne Warwick, The Carpenters, Al Green & Annie Lennox and dozens of other diverse artists. DeShannon toured with The Beatles on their inaugural visit to the United States and for over a decade she has served as news correspondent for the weekly Sirius XM radio program “Breakfast With The Beatles.”

National Record Store Day began in 2009 to celebrate the culture of record stores and the vital roles they play for artists and their fans. The day serves as an inspiration for musicians, record store owners and those who love nostalgia.

DeShannon’s “Love Forever” collection represents the first official commercial release comprised entirely of her vintage demo recordings. These tracks are long sought-after among classic music collectors. They are rare versions of DeShannon’s compositions which she would record, usually with minimal accompaniment, for her music publisher to submit to various producers and artists in order to obtain “cover” versions. “Love Forever” provides a fascinating and enthralling tapestry of “a timeless artist evolving with the times.”

“Love Forever” will become available May 9 on compact disc. To pre-order the limited edition vinyl and for listings of record stores near you, go to: recordstoreday.com  For more information on Jackie DeShannon, visit:  www.jackiedeshannon.com
