What if they made an app that didn't do what it claims to do? Meet Apple's Shazam, a complete waste of time and energy.
Watching "Friends With Benefits" the other day, there was a song in the background I didn't recognize. Great time to test drive my new app, right? Wrong. IShazam couldn't find the song… hmmm. So I tried another song. Couldn't find that either. I tried six songs in the movie and it missed five of them. The only one it caught was on the closing credits (it missed Sttenwolf a moment earlier)
Why?
Background noise. If there is a voice on the screen it goes hoowily.
So, to make it even clearer folks, it doesn't work if there is anything but silce around you. Useful, right? Surely if you are at home in silence, you can easily figure out what you are listening to. But even if you can't, even if it is a sog on a TV show, this piece of junk won't work.
And that commercial with some guy walking round the scity Shazzaming songs going out of speakers or radios? Fantasyland. It don't happen.
