The Seekers “I Will Never Find Another You”: What I Am Listening To Right This Moment by Iman Lababedi

Like Marty McFly I seem to keep returning to a certain period in history -this week anyway. First I thought became I was watching the TAMI Show but then… and this is eery… Helen mentioned a UK punishment for litter fiends and how they wer forced to listen to 70s advertising jingle (speaking of which, anybody remeber that 70s new wave band? “why must i be rich for you to say ich libe dich?”  by folks like the New Seekers.
Which got me to thinking about the Auddie supergroup The Seekers so I went in search of a greatest hits in my collection and found one… on cassette. So I just invested $1.29 on thieving monybagging maybe grave robbing Steve Jobs Itunes (has Tom Springfield died or something? If a sixties folk group isn’t gonna be 99 cents if not indeed 79 cents what is?) and bought one of my two full blown faves. The other is “The Carnival Is Over”.
As for “I’ll Never Find Another You” -it was written by Dusty Springfield’s Tom Springfield who would write and produce many hits for the Australian legendary folk pop band the Seekers. This song is fuled by an acoustic guitar which runs parallel to the three part harmonies and Judith Durham taking the lead.
The Seekers would follow this smash hit (#4 on the pop charts Stateside) with hits like “Georgy Girl” and “A World Of Our Own”. But this was the first with Springfield and a completely devastating ode to infatuation glossed as intense love.
Me?  I’m off to find the Delorean.
