Scott Pilgrim Vs The World Second Review: I”I’d Be A huge Fan If The Band Were Real” by Mary Magpie

Stoked as ever, I went to the movies to see “Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World”. All the reviews said it pretty much blew the roof off, so I expected to be impressed.
Knowing Michael Cera and his acting, it was obvious he fit his role of Scott Pilgrim, age 23, so well, he pretty much was the character with the sense of humour and shy-but-adorable persona. Being the rockin’ bassist in the band Sex Bomb-Omb(which I’d be a huge fan of if it was real), his band mates cynical and sarcastic girl-drummer Kim and Stephen(not the brightest crayon in the box), they all went well together and fit. Not-quite member Young Neil was a nice touch to the SBO family. With their band practices, the music put a spin on what had already been done a few times before. The video game aspect in the battles and in his everyday life made the movie even more unique, giving it a great start.
Then Ramona, Scott’s new girlfriend after he broke up with a high schooler, came along and was quite a quirky character and a nice addition to the cast. The bright hair, outfits, and personality made her a new kind of love interest that will no doubt be copied in another film, probably indie, sometime soon(once something original happens, it’s copied everywhere). Scott had to fight off her seven deadly exes in order to be with her, but it seemed like too much. All the fighting and constant struggle made it kind of a bit boring and I kept waiting for something more. Phenominal fight scenes, but a few too many for it to be pleasurable and surprising. It was still very good and unique, just it was spiraling a bit downhill.
Though at a certain point, near the beginning of the last fight, all the sudden everything seemed just so predictable. It’d all been done before. Hero gets the girl, then they all live happily ever after. It was original and unpredictable up to that point. A different ending would’ve been nice.
Regardless, it was a good movie with a great cast that fit together almost perfectly, but it didn’t blow the roof off.
