Scandinavia On A Roll In 2010? Meet Mr. Little Jeans

Scandinavia  we hardly knew ya! Fourteen years after the Cardigans broke the States, Sweden has been shipping one brilliant woman after the other Stateside. First disco diva Robyn brought us “Cry When You’re Older” and when of the years best with Body Talk Part One, though not Part Two. Next soul singer supreme Jenny Wilson gave us “Only Here For The Fight” and one of the top live shows of the summer at Pianos.
And now here is  Scandinavia’s latest pop sensation, Norway’s Mr. Little Jeans aka Monica Birkeness latest pop sensation. On the the two songs I’ve heard, “Angel” and “Faking Gold”, both topnotch pop she sounds like a throwback to Nina Persson; this is timeless pop rock with an inbred sexiness and that weirdness that seems to melt with melody in the gospel according to ABBA.
Good stuff.  Monica records for Neon gold and has a new EP to be released this Autumn. No tour but I am sure she will show up soon enough!
