rock nyc to Springsteen, Bono, Elton: Show Your Tax Returns Before You Ask For Charity

Last week we wrote about how working class hero Bruce Springsteen, used a tax loophole to pay a mere $5000 on the 200 acres of farm land he owns  due to a tax loophole that allows him to be subsidized by the State of New Jersey.

The world's response? Zero.

Springsteen is the embodiment of rock and roll decency and yet this is not decency. His entire persona is a modern day Woody Guthrie. If Bruce  is looking for tax dodges, everyone is looking for tax dodges.

Look, if you are rich you have tax attorney's who save you money the real working class can't imagine. We get it. that's fine.

But it is not fine when you whinge at your audience day and night to give away money ywe don't have to charities who don't get the money where it is meant to go because you can't be bothered monitoring it, meanwhile your uber-wealthy lifetyle is being subsidized by not merely your audience buying tixs and music, but also covering your share of taxes.

You can either take every penny your lawyers can muster in tax breaks and not be a working class hero and  not help raise money for charities, or you can pay your taxes fairly and be a working class hero and help raise money for charities.

You can't do both.

Bruce has brought the integrity of the rock and roll community into serious question.

Springsteen, Bono, Jay-Z, Beyonce, the rest of you: release your tax returns.
