A couple of months ago we spoke with young filmaker David Miller about his first directorial effort, the short “Lavinia’s Revenge”. A devastating trompe d’oeil which had you constantly thinking you were seeing things you weren’t and when you saw what you were seeing you might well have been forgiven for turning your head in dismay at the tragedy.
Miller’s movie has been accepted by the Big Apple Film Festival and rightly so. This is the Festival’s 10 year whose mission according to their website is “…As a means of supporting and promoting independent films and filmmakers from the New York City metropolitan area. Our primary mission is to connect cinematic audiences with influential, educational and entertaining films that have been developed and produced outside of the mainstream studio system and reflect the ideals of individuals living and/or working within the New York area”.
The featured feature film this year will be “Jake Squared” starring a woman I’ve had the biggest crush on since “Fast Times At Ridgemont High”, Jennifer Jason Leigh. So this is something of a big achievement for Miller and a deserved one. Personally, I can’t wait to see “Lavinia’s Revenge” on a movie screen, I want to see those strong colors in a dark room on a large screen.
It is screening at Tribeca Screen 2 on November 8th at 6pm along with other other shorts and tickets go on sale October 7th, 2013 here. I’ll be there for sure so why don’t you pick up a ticket and see us there. it will be an experience you won’t quickly forget.
