There’s a huge and hungry audience willing to listen and willing to spread their social branches to recommend what they like.
Blogs such as ours throw their hearts into bands we find and do whatever we can to promote them. A partnership to spread the word.
Within this year of writing with rocknyc I have learned alot. I’m still learning but I have gotten some hard knock lessons.
What I have learned is there is a level of professionalism that I’ve come to expect. This week I encountered a couple circumstances that made me wonder just how serious performers are.
When dealing with management firms that may perhaps have bigger egos than client lists, you take a bit more into consideration. You let the arrogant stuff go and focus on the kid who needs a break. I believe in the band, your management firm is about as professional as a school newspaper. I hope you’re bought out. Sold like a mortgage to people who will actually support you.
On the flip side I deal the precision management who on a Saturday morning California time are taking time away from their families to make sure I, me……just me.. get into their show. No ego, no bullshit, professional, concise, efficient, and within an hour we’re sporting press passes and being ushered in. Client list?
10 miles long and you’ve heard of almost all of them.
So lets analyze shall we? Why would Company 5 client sport a woody to the detriment of their own product? Where’s the prize? rocknyc not big enough? Don’t bet on it.
Bad spelling, bad grammar? Maybe. But we have a pretty powerful voice. So much so that I am protecting your name so as not to “out” them.
Why would big company 50 absolutely pull a Superman to get a couple of ‘bloggers’ into a venue with ninja skill and bi coastal smart phone speed?

What I think it comes down to is the business of rock and roll. Company 50 has an outstanding client list because they promote and encourage their product. Selling them to whomever will give them attention and spreading the branches of communications from a grass root level. Seeing the forest through the trees. Diversify, and stay professional. Thank you. Its appreciated and whenever I am with one of your clients or events, I give my all because you give yours and I would never want to short change your confidence.
Company 5? You can stroke you 5, I’m sure they are well handled and I’m certain you will get them A slot times with A slot publications.
Or will you?
Will you have so much negative that you cant storm through to be respected? Will you get just so far til Company 50 buys them from you? Best to beef up the roster.
I cant blame the bands- I wont.
I wont say I deserve a thing, I don’t.
I am offering you and your client an opportunity to touch my client base. Our reader, who will spread the word.
Some see the power in that and others don’t.
In the end I’m in it for the music, I just wish everyone was or at least for those they claim to represent.
