Jann is the man who approved, in succession, 5 star reviews of two of the worst albums ever made, Bruce and U2s latest.
Do you believe him? Do you trust him? Did Rolling Stone lie for Jann’s personal and close friends.
Damn straight they did.
And then U2’s manager has the audacity to whinge about bloggers. Whinge about your hopelessly immoral relationship with he biggest music magazine in the world, you horrible man.
How about Pitchfork. Who woke up to Freddie Gibbs the day after he agreed to play at one of their Festivals. Brooklynvegan also promote concerts but since BV isn’t strictly speaking a live and recorded review website, I have no problem with them. Pitchfork are filth (the writing sucks as well).
I was “business friendly” with Shinobi Ninja., their drummer wrote a post about his influences for rock nyc. It didn’t stop me for nailing em, for a lousy show last month. I worship Titus Andronicus and ripped em for their opening slot for Vampire Weekend.
Woody Fuller is my friend and writes for me and books Fuzzy G. And I wasn’t all that kind to Fuzzy’s mixtape.
If I am going to write for fun I am not going to lie for fun.
All I have is my opinions. If that means people don’t like me, that I don’t pal with rock stars, what do I care?
My rule of thumb hasn’t changed since day one. If you are small I’ll either ignore you or write something positive without lying. If you are of a certain size, i don’t care who you are, I will write what I believe.
Otherwise, every writer here is left to say whatever they want. We don’t only accept contraction, we embrace it.
We make no friends, we have no money and we HATE Spin, Pitchfork and (ugh) Rolling Stone because they are corrupt entities: they should all be working in Albany. And they should all be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.
