Word is leaking out on the internet that legendary pedal steel guitar session man Ben Keith has passed away at the age of 73. Keith’s work can be heard on several of the most essential Neil Young tracks, as well as music by Terry Reid, Todd Rundgren, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and countless others. Most importantly, he can be heard playing pedal steel on Patsy Cline’s “I Fall To Pieces”.
The cause of death is not yet known.
