Rilo Kiley Reunion?

If ever a band failed to live up to its abilities, the band would be indie darlings Rilo Kiley. I saw them at Webster Hall in 2005 and was fairly disappointed though it was late in their career. Their recorded career goes like this. An opening salvo, a pretty good album, a classic, a nearly as good follow up, a disappointment and a disaster.

After which, Jenny recorded two whatever solo albums, a lousy album with her boyfriend, and is about to tour with the Postal Service after recording songs for an upcoming movie Dakota Fanning movie "Very Good Friends" Meanwhile Blake Sennett had an even less adventurous solo career.

So as we speak and after Blake's vicious tirade Jenny Lewis has come up with her "it depends what is is" moment to Buzzfeed: "We never officially broke up. It was just: Blake [Sennett] made a statement in the press." (Rilo Kiley released its last album in 2007; in 2011, Sennett, Rilo Kiley's guitarist, told Spinner, "I just felt like there was a lot of deception, disloyalty, greed and things I don't really want to submit myself to.")

"I think he was hangry at the time — hungry and angry," Lewis says, adding that she believes Sennett was speaking about himself as much as he was speaking of the band. Rilo Kiley has in fact continued working together; they've just finished a "b-sides and rarities" collection, five years in the making. It will include several unreleased songs."

What I heard was Jenny and Blake were a couple, Blake cheated on her and the band unraveled over time. SO now they are back and I guess it is an OK idea if you have that much material in the boot of your car but I never found RK to be the most consistent band in the world and surely the primary reason for not releasing stuff is because they suck? Right.
