Just as Thom York did his solo thing with ‘The Eraser’ and Jonny Greenwood his with movie soundtracks, Radiohead drummer Phil Selway will release his solo album ‘Familial’ on August 31st in the US. Glenn Kotche and Pat Sansone (respectively drummer and multi-instrumentalist of Wilco), Sebastian Steinberg (Soul Coughing bassist), and singer-songwriter Lisa Germano have contributed to the album.

It’s a very quiet acoustic ballad with female backup vocals, and melancholic string arrangements, which it is not without reminding some of the most quiet Radiohead songs, but in a more simplistic way, without the big orchestration and Thom Yorke’s whining.
