A quick search of my itunes account will find emoish indie pop group the Pains Of Being Pure At Heart‘s “Young Adult Friction” firmly in first place as most played of the year, so there was joy as well as purity of the heart on finding the new EP Higher Than the Stars released this Tuesday.
The EP finds the band sounding as much like themselves as they do on their brilliant eponymous debut -sorta Belle and Sebastian with better echo. There are three re-mixes of “Higher Than The Stars” the best of which is Saint Etienne’s where they sound kinda spacey but all three are excellent and the original is even better and four other songs including a lively little sucker called “103”.
The Pains are are Webster Hall October 3rd (a saturday no less) and that’ll be me screaming “now that you feel you say it’s not real”.
