I looove Pretty Lights. The band’s not that bad either.
But for real, I have seen Pretty Lights live 3 times, this past weekend at Bisco included, and each and every time that 1,2 punch of live drums with the eclectic sampling of genres used in their songs, first and foremost rocks my fucking world. This is obviously a good thing; you’re just listening to music, minding your own business, then WHAM BAM, (thank you ma’am), you’re world is rocked. It just hits you, and whether you like it or not, you are aboard the P-Lights train ’til the conductor, Derek Vincent Smith, decides we’ve reached our final destination. The uber rad light show defiantly doesn’t hurt either. Me and my chum, Chris, moseyed our way front and center to partake in the full throttle experience, no regrets people.
However, there is the crowd that dislikes them live, insisting they “aren’t anything special” and that its the “same as listening to the cd.” You are WRONG, my friends. Not sure what kind of mp3 player you got, maybe the new mp300, but fuck it, I dig it.
Great drummer, bomb light show, bass thumpin, whoomp whoomp, you really get drawn into everything that’s now surrounding you, it puts you in a new, exciting, distant place, far far away.
Like neverland. Everyone wants to go back to neverland. Which is exactly why I will go see Pretty Lights again and again.
