Phish’s Halloween: Exile On Guystreet

A day after Mick Jagger shared the mick (sic) with Fergie on the East Coast, Phish played their traditionally inclined Halloween complete album, Exile On Main Street,  from one end to the other at at their Festival 8 in Indio, California.

Show me an album with songs as great as “Rocks Off” “Rip This Joint” and “Shake Your Hips” -to name the first three songs alone, and I’ll show you the Beatles White Album. My friend and fellow Stones fanatic Michael Blauner and I  are in complete agreement on this: Exile is their greatest moment. Of all the Stones claims to being  the greatest rock band of all time the reasoning  is never clearer than on this trip down the deep south with a harmonica, a coupla pounds of coke, and a girl with faraway eyes.

The review of the Phish concert I read in Rolling Stone was very positive but quite how the mathematically inclined Phish boys got around to kicking the shit that far off their shoes I don’t know. It might be worth buying the set from  Phish.com to find out.
