Phil Collins Tells Spin: “I Nearly Walked Off Stage At Live Aid”

I remember Live Aid like it was, er, 25 years ago.

Marvin Gaye had died the day before -murdered by his father and I was very upset.

Bob Geldof said it was the greatest day of his life.

Everybody, I mean everybody, was terrible.

Led Zep weren’t the worst -that would probably be dylan.

But they were damn close.

Led Zep blamed the drummer, Phil Collins. Collins, in one of the more trivial pursuits of the 80s Concorded between Wembley and Philadelphia for the pleasure of boring people on two continents.

And now 25 years Phil jumps to his own defense in Spin.com: “They weren’t very good and I was made to feel a little uncomfortable by the dribbling Jimmy Page. If I could have walked off, I would have – but then we’d be talking about why Phil Collins walked off from Led Zeppelin. So I just stayed there and bit my tongue.”

I wish Phil had bit his tongue off.
