Last week I wrote of getting to Bowery Electric in time for the last song of the Del Lords set. A big time loss and here is another one. i had tickets to see Pearl Jam at MSG July 8th, 2003 (ten years ago, and decided to go and see Metallica at Giants Stadium instead.
A huge mistake, what was I thinking of? Not only were Metallica lousy but my friend Christine went and she said Pearl Jam were the best she had ever seen them and if you don’t believe her, how about this? Pearl Jam were releasing all their concerts as official bootlegs and I bought one and they were incredible. They played maybe 45 minutes longer than theyw ere meant to and Eddie got a little trashed on wine and the place was electric. Another friend went and he used to work at MSG and he said he had never seen the floor move like that: it was dangerous.
Me? I saw Peal Jam at Randall’s Island on the Vitalogy tour and they were pretty spectacular then but what with one thing and another,m I haven’t seen them since then so please have no doubt that whatever it takes I plan to catch them this October when they play Barclay Center.
I love Pearl Jam -not the way I love some other bands, but enough to have heard every thing they’ve ever released and now, at this late date, I am willing to joing the world in giving it up for the band.
