Out On The Streets Lab by Iman Lababedi

If you love dance it won’t take more than a listen to Streetlab’s overwhelming “Rat Race” featuring Noelle. I A synth tweaks and pop and a bass humms behind Noelle in a sexy, move worthy flip out with all the cool in the world.
Streetlab are Mark ‘Cosmo’ Lamorg and Ryan Leary and they have been together since 2001 so the sampler of their original sounds, as opposed to remixes for the likes of Hot Chips, is a fully formed and highly original groove entrenched bpm world of fun.
Four songs and they are all excellent but despite the “NYSound” name of one song, hit me as being more European than US dance. Sure they move on their bass but they are much less bass heavy than the T&B guys wouk dream of.
Doesn’t that sound like a complaint? It isn’t and if the rest of their material sustains this disco rejuvenated, blipping, dance delight, they are just gonna be invited to every party on earth.

Don’t believe me? They have two upcoming gigs, you can check em out yourself:

Thurs. March 25 – Brooklyn, NY – Cameo Gallery w/ Pharoh and Sepalcure

Tues April 13- New York, NY – Santos Party House w/ Bottle Up & Go, Hush Now, and Das Racist (DJ)
