1. Lover’s Day – TV On The Radio – Undeniable brooklyn fuse sex song
2. Red River Shore – Bob Dylan – It was around here I kinda realized Dylan’s second golden age was over.
3. Milli – Lil Wayne – Wildly eccentric game changer.
4. Thank You Too – My Morning Jacket – Curtis Mayfield woulda loved it, Tom Petty does love it.
5. Longest Day – John Mellencamp – Ugh. I wish he would change his name back to Cougar and hit on young guys.
6. L.E.S. Artistes – Santogold – Sorta like MIA without the accent.
7. Viva La Vida – Coldplay – Sure, they’re bedwetters but this song is undeniable if only for the strings that open it.
8. Orphans – Beck – Alyson and Bret will kill me but this guy has been an over important drag since Midnight Vultures.
9. All Nightmare Long – Metallica – Kinda liked it at the time but the concert was such a drag it put me off em.
10. A-Punk – Vampire Weekend – Eeh eeh eeh!! And so it begins.
11. He Doesn’t Know Why – Fleet Foxes – Nessing loves em, me, I don’t hate this.
12. I.R.S. – Guns N Roses – Blows Metallica to smitherines from a great lost album, i think it’ll be found again in a coupla years by a new generation of headbangers.
13. Furr – Blitzen Trapper – American folk rock. No really that’s what it is.
14. Crossed Out Name – Ryan Adams – One of my fave songs of all times. No really. I hope Ryan Adams can still write like this now he’s happily married -his newbie is a heavy metal album.
15. I Got Mine – The Black Keys – I like em more now. This is a bit too obvious.
16. Losing You – Randy Newman – From Newman’s worst album ever Is it a leftover from Faust? Absolutel. That worst Newman album was a fake out. I mean, really, how bad could it be?
17. See That My Grave Is Kept Clean – BB King – Nobody mentions this album anymore, do they? DO THEY?
18. If Wishes Were Horses – Lucinda Williams – Around the time of Happy Woman Blues I worshipped her. Now? Not so much
19. The Healer – Erykah Badu – Two years later she’d be stripping in Dallas in support of vastly superior album.
