Omega is a merengue singer working in the Reggaeton form. He’s from the Domincan Republic and hasn’t made it State Side though he is friend swith folks Pitbull and his DR posse Chosen few.
It was just the other day I wrote I wasn’t very keen on Reggaeton except for Daddy Yankee and Don Omar (and it took a concert to change my mind on him) but Omega is something else. He isn’t coming out of dancehall or salsa or hiphop, he is coming out of merengue and I love the merengue rhythm.

Imagine there were people listening to this intricate rhythm jam (even the horns have a beat) while I was watching Mariah Carey get drunk at MSG.
Omega, Fuego, Pitbull -all of these guys are just aweinspiring rhythm genius’. “Chambonea” is six minutes plus of merengue if not the best he has, pretty incredible stuff. You can’t stand still to the damn thing.
It is off 2007’s El Duelo del Flow and since I only have seven bucks left till I am done, I plan to buy the rest of it when I get home tonight.
