Old Gray is ridiculously talented. Cam Boucher, of OG and Sorority Noise most notably, is the owner of Nicolas’ Cage, CT house show venue. I first got into his music through Sorority Noise and seeing them at The Cage, and have recently downloaded all of Old Gray’s music. It was one of the best decisions I’ve made.
They did a live acoustic performance of “Wolves”, a personal favorite of mine. I adore how the band experiments with spoken word in their songs; it’s always so powerful, and makes them really unique. This Space Jam session is incredibly casual, and it gives a really calm feel to it.
Cam’s voice is beautiful. It’s soft and gentle, and match perfectly with his perfect, smooth guitar playing. Compared to the original, I prefer this version. It’s so much more raw and pure, and though you could say that about any of the band’s music, this version is just so much more beautiful to me. It’s lovely. As for Charlie, the band’s drummer, he’s the one who does the spoken word bit at the end. I can’t stop listening to his part. He says, “All resolve is lost as words fall from your lips, my trembling fingertips held out in question, so shake hands with regret.” That’s the most powerful line of all. It’s intense; “You’re the tightly closed fingers holding in a breath, if you would stay here with me one more minute, I would steal the world.” That’s the last line they leave us with, and end the seriousness with a quick fist bump, as the video ends.
Chilling, captivating, and definitely worth a listen.
