Reading Dan Aquilante in full sycophant mode is like watching a dog hump its masters leg. This isn’t the complete humiliation for Dan Aquilante that his “This Is It” single review was, it is just a bad review and we’ve all done em.
The double CD is bits and pieces and would give the first CD 2 stars and the second CD 2 1/2, maybe 3 stars if you’re a completist.
Aquilante misses it by a mile and what I forgive him for is his overeaction to the first CD and what is unforgivable his review of CD Two. Aquilante writes: “Even the most devoted Jacksonites will be fascinated by disc two. It’s here that we get insight into the evolution of Jacko’s sound through unreleased early demo versions.” Of course the twit gets it THE WRONG WAY ROUND. The devoted will lap it up, the casual listener will be completely indifferent and Aquilante will show the world again why he is the luckiest man in the States. Apparently NYP have no entertainment editor who has the slightest idea about pop music and let’s him get away with one ridiculous review after another.
