Now He’s Done It: One part sycophant, one part bully, Aquilante is loathsome

I’ll admit to thinking that all of New York Post Chief Music Critic Dan Aquilante’s taste is in his mouth, that he is a complete suck up to anybody in the rock heirarchy in a league with Jann Wenner and that he is not much of a writer. BUT I have resisted the urge to simply call him an asshole till now.
Aquilante’s review of  the Joe Perry Project a couple of days ago is one of the worst acts of rock criticism I have ever read. Aerosmith are old, drug addled has beens who have sucd for twenty years straight and the Joe Perry Project is worse. So here is good ol dan on Joe Perry: “Perry and his band were tight during their 90-minute set. The famous guitarist was tops on the songs “Slingshot” A little boring but whatever.

Then Steve Tyler came out on stage for the encore and to refute claims of the band breaking up: “In a flannel shirt that Tyler was compelled to rip open halfway through the song, he told the house, “The breakup — it just ain’t true.” He proved it with tight vocal/guitar interplay with Perry, bromance hugs and the same stage chemistry that made this summer’s Aerosmith sellout at Jones Beach memorable.” Ugh, but Ok, the moment got Dan and let’s forget it.

Now here is what Aquilante had to say about the lead singer of the band basking in his first big break and being written up in a major American tabloid: “….”Somebody’s Gonna Get Their Head Kicked in Tonight.” That “somebody” should have been Perry’s hired singer, the unknown German Hagen Grohe, who demonstrated why he’s unknown. Screechy, often flat and with the stage presence of an undercooked bratwurst, you had to wonder if Perry was high when he agreed to let this guy be the frontman for his namesake side project”

What a dick that Aquilante is. What a nasty piece of work. I don’t believe a word this fucking guy says. He’s a liar and his opinion is worthless.
