Noel Gallagher was asked about reforming Oasis in time for the May 2014 20th Anniversary of the release of Oasis genuinely brilliant debut album Definitely Maybe. He replied: "It would take Liam or myself to be very skint and I know that is not going to happen. The last time I saw Liam he didn't say much. The day will pass and people will realise the anniversary just has not happened."
More is the pity.
I saw Oasis on every single US Tour and I thought, with exceptions (a great Hammerstein gig in 1998 comes to mind) they were not that terrific live. But their first three albums were a signature achievement and if only "Champagne Supernova" really crossed over, blame yourself not them. As Beatley as you might claim they were, they weren't the Beatles and as bigger yobs as the Gallagher Brothers were, Liam is a great singer and, for years on end, Noel could write terrific rock songs.
But they kinda sucked right through this century and then the big bruising egos got in the way (I kinda think it is Noel -older brother stuff, the way I think the Kinks is Ray), and whatever happens, even if only Noel has lost the gift, they will never be as good solo.
So, I say, make up and set up a 2014 tour. I will sure be there!
