Forget about Bono reciting Bukowski, in the ‘Born into this’ documentary, how did this happen anyway? I know Bono is a fan but you cannot imagine a worst association. When Bono met him, Bukowski asked ‘Who the fuck is Bono?’, and you have to love this.
I don’t remember how I stumbled on this short video of Tom Waits reading Bukowski’s ‘The laughing heart’ but it is precious. It’s the obvious meeting, the effortless combination, and the immediate authenticity revealing your belonging to the same universe. You cannot fake this.
