Nina Hafen Uber Alles by Helen Bach

I like Nina Hagen. I think she’s sexy and she scared the hell out of me. Really what more is there to a girl?

A few days back we celebrated Lene Lovichs birthday, so of course I had to drag out the tune Lucky Number’, which.. reminded me of Nina. (Roll with my here my mind is quite complex)

Nina Hagen was big in the late 70s and early 80s and with her almost demonic growl and really disturbing appearance and the harsh sound of German vocals she pretty much wiggled her way into a funky niche’. One I gladly grabbed hold of.

I appreciated her for being so weird. Remember at the time were looking at Pat Benetar or Stevie Nicks or something. My 13 year old self wanted nothing to do with that crap (still doesn’t)

I’m not going to go into a big fat biography. She sorta freaked out in the 90s, maybe she scared herself with her own image. But I gotta high five my Vegan sister at the very least. So now, I’m gonna just give a wave to Nina, crank up some Nunsex Monkrock (can you believe this was released in 1982?) and work on my cats wing eyeliner.

Here’s a blast from the past

The German version of “White Punks On Dope”

COOL!
