I never read about this, but Cyndi once mentioned to me that her brother is homosexual and I am sure that is one reason she is so generous and caring with the difficulties homsexual men and women face even today.
Her “True Colors” charity concerts does a lot to help but Contactmusic report, Lauper is opening up a homeless shelter for teenage gays.
The story of teenagers being thrown out of their homes after coming out to their family and Rock NYC applauds Lauper on a very worthy helping hand.
Here is what she said:
“Kids are coming out in greater numbers as they see themselves accepted and represented on TV and in movies, but they’re still being kicked out of their homes or running away and living on the streets. We need to make sure we’re taking care of them.”
The center will open in the winter of 2011.
