How many Christmas songs are out there? Hundreds? Thousands? I don’t know but a lot… How many songs about the New Year? A few, they are just that very often played. Here are five of them, I know it’s not a lot, but I only took the ones I like.
* The New Year by Death Cab for Cutie: It’s bursting in your ear, you wish nothing would change,… but wait, nothing has changed! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MwhxdGAnic* New Year’s Eve by The Knife: There is so much to catch up indeed, I always see somebody running very fast when I hear the Knife.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apRj9pGMEAE * In the New Year by The Walkmen: ‘I know that it’s true/It’s gonna be a good year’. I should listen more to the Walkmen, this song is soaring to some dramatic levels.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXQ-BNiR9vU * Happy New Year by Camera Obscura: Her voice is as fresh as a spring morning, the vocal harmonies are dreamy, and the music is light and happy but who knows what will be going on during this not-so-happy new year: ‘Happy new year/You’re my only vice/What if we compromised?/I am open’http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vb8dnTng1R8 * Glendora by Rilo Kiley: Actually the song starts with ‘It’s New Year’s Eve, I’m in Glendora’ so it qualifies. From Rilo Kiley’s early days, when they were still good! The song runs as fast as the desperate vicious circle which is killing that addicted-to-bad-love-girl.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRHM6lHaFrU |
