New Music w/o march 1st, 2010: On the Road by Iman Lababedi

Lil Freak (feat. Nicki Minaj) – Usher – They only released the clean version. It’s like watching “Scarface” on Network TV.

Waterloo Sunset -(Oxford London Temple Version) – Peter Gabriel – Hard to go too far wrong with this one and Gabriel doesn’t come close. He slows it downs, sticks violins in the backtrack and makes it even more mournful. Gets all of the falsetto reach on “fine” as well.

Ridin’ Solo – Jason Derulo – Changes gears nicely between verse and chorus and he sounds like a sexy robot.

Shake It Out – Manchester Orchestra – Dreary piece of alt rock crappola.

Milakia (feat Martin Gore) – Bomb The Bass – Or do anything at all to the bass in this piece of boring Goth dance. Jesus fucking Christ get on with it.

The Open Road – John Hiatt – Remember when Tony Visconti was producing him and he was promoting as the next Costello? Neither does he. Now he’s a roots rocker and a good one at that and always good for six killer tracks every two years (and fourteen blues blasts). This is one of them -a folk rock keeper. SINGLE OF THE WEEK

Headaches – Modern Hut – What this demo version of the For Science classic proves is a) Joe Steinhardt wasn’t writing punk, he was writing songs and b) He misses his lead singer.
