New Music Week, September 20th, 2010: Full Of Atmosphere by Iman Lababedi

Out Of Goodbyes (feat Lady Antebellum) – Marron 5 – Better than anything on the country pop band’s sophomore album, this is a twangy melodic killer and, oddly enough Adam and Hillary melt together very prettily, maybe because they are both a little nasal. Great line: “I wonder if your man still shudders when you take his hand”. Killer song.

Ghost Of You – Selena Gomez And The Scene – Minor league pop move from an underage TV star.

My Friend – Jamie McCartney – Part of me thinks the song might work if the production was so crappy but, nah. Nothing would save it.

Echoes – Klaxons – I heard they took drugs in a desert to record this. Guessing it was aspirin.

The Season – Matt Costa – The singer-songwriter as musical valium.

Make You Pop (Don Diablo Mix) – Diplo And Don Diablo – Sure does pop a lot.

Angel – Akon – From r. kelly to Akon, hip hop stars are remembering their soul tuneful roots. This ain’t R. Kelly but it is a pretty fine love slash dream girl tribute.

Young Love (feat Katrina Ford) – Maximum Balloon – The chick from celebration and our kid Dave, kill on this disco work out. It’s actually kinda interestesing comparing the shiny and gleaming disco sheen which seems all one layer and almost floaty compared to the turgidness and sinky feeling of Selena’s production. That makes three for three on this album. Man, am I sick of being broke cuz this and Shit Robot I’d already owm. Plus whatever happened to the $9.99 album? There is so manufacturing or distribution fees. Why is it so fucking expensive? Whatever. TRACK OF THE WEEK

Amerimacka – Thievery Corporation – Funny name, atmospheric doodahs, full of atmospheric dubby promise.
