New Music week Of September 6th: Now Baby, Don’t Push Me Because I’m Close To the Edge by Iman Lababedi

Rockin’ My Life Away – Jerry Lee Lewis – Sure Jerry Lee is old. What’s Kid Rock and Slash’s excuse?

Tell her I Said So – James – A decade later they are the same old pop Duran-y with a serious edge lads they always were. And really, that’s a pretty neat synth line they’re doodling with.

Hollywood – Michael Buble -Tthis guy is singlehandedly resuuserecting the American songbook as a modern day, recetly rwritten AOR party. Another goodie.

Include Me Out – Robyn – This is all double time beats and synth hooks on top of synth hooks. I guess the lyrics could be sharper but they don’t NEED TO BE sharper sharper.

Check It Out – Will I Am and Nicki Minaj – A pure pop of intense proportions that should absolutely break the Billboard Hot 100. I meant now. And not a thought in its pretty head.

The Comet Song – Bjork – Geez, the kids in Iceland must be whack cases. It’s all that brightness that does it. I can’t believe there is a single child anywhere who doesn’t here this song about a comet hitting the earth and doesn’t have very bright and cheeful recurring nightmares.

Breaking Point – Keri Hilson – I am not insane over keri’s voice, though I do like it, but the song is simply the best r&b pop song I’ve heard in ages. Best line: “Baby, don’t push me because I’m close to the edge”. TRACK OF THE WEEK.

When A Woman Loves A Man – R. Kelly – Holy crap!! A full on soul ballad par excellence. Last year’s Untitled was excellent but this is spectacular. SECOND BEST TRACK OF THE WEEK.

Speechless – Ciara – I like Ciara fine but she is gonna hafta up her game if she wants to be the next Aaliyah. Put it this way; it is the dfiference between an A and a C.

Yesterday – Neil Diamond – Of course I bought it to goof on and of course it manages to make a wildy emotional disaster of a song that much worse.

The Dreamer – The Tallest Man On Earth – Hmmm, maybe mary was right about this guy.

Jailer Jailer – Peter Rowan Bluegrass – Sure he plays a keen banjo, the song is still bluesy dross.
