Goblin – Tyler, The Creator – At first the boring back track bummed me, but on closing listening the rap and rhymes make it an instant classic maybe. Certainly, when was the last time did you hear Jay-Z rap "I'm just a teenager, admit to suicide prone"? When was the last time did a rapper have the absolute right to shirk any responsibility to anything but growing up. TRACK OF THE WEEK
Lies Of The Beautiful – Sixx A.M. – Metal works best when it has a melody, something you'd think glam metal star Nikki Sixx would know. he doesn't.
By Any Means – Wale – Worst song EVER written about Malcolm X. This is a terrible and average tribute at the same time and should be ignored.
River's Gonna Rise – Warren Haynes – Sure he can play blues good, but he sings as well as Eric Clapton.
Jack Sparrow (feat Michael Bolton) – The Lonely Island – Michael Bolton wails but very funnily as he wrecks havoc on the Lonely Islands' down and dirty rap: the juxtaposition shouldn't work… but it does!
Still Got Tonight – Matthew Morrison – This isn't bad simply in comparison to Chris Colfer, this dreadful power ballad singer sucks strictly on his own merits.
Fire At The Pageant – The Felice Brothers – Harmony brothers singing a crap folk song.
Dirty Dancer (feat Usher) – Enrique Iglesias – Even Usher can't save this by the numbers disco track
Covers – The Sea And Cake – They've been around for over a decade and you can tell, the ultra smart song revs up like a dream. Imagine Belle And Sebastian with a touch more distance.
Get Up (feat Skrillex) – Korn – Dubstep plus hardcore, like fish and ice cream, one bite is delicious, the next makes you wanna throw up.
Time Changes Everything – Jimmie Dale Gilmore – Bluegrass swing by one of the great voices in country.
Hold You Down – Jadakiss – Sexy slow burn but the rap is a little weak.
Into The Ocean – Blue October – Not a bad song, not particularly acoustic despite the claims. The vocal drags me.
Virgin – Manchester Orchestra – In the argument between taste and opinion, I don't much care for these alt bores but it is more a question of opinion than taste.
Higher Level – Lee Scratch Perry – Heavy, heavy, heavy dub.
9 Piece (feat Lil Wayne) – Rick Ross – Why do all the backing tracks sound the same today?
