Dancing In The Light – The Rolling Stones – As good as “Plundered My Soul” but I overestimated “Plundered”. All the outtakes are good but as good as “Dancing In the Light”, it isn’t shining or showing up the magnificent sprawl of Exile. Call it the first of second tier early seventies Stones.
Drunk Girls – LCD Soundsystem – This is an oddly 80s synth pop rocker and very good indeed, sorta distracted ergo woulda be new romanticly (with the funk) old timey beat groove.
I Can’t Be Tamed – Miley Cyrus – Everybody is morphing into Britney. Is that what Miley means by growing up? Sub the great one but it is an energetic dance whopper that should do what it is meant to. Get Miley out on the dancefloor.
Everlasting Light – The Black Keys – How can I like this and not the White Stripes? Well, LIKE I can. Pretty good bluesy willy warmer which owes Jack White royalties.
Oh, The Divorces! – Tracy Thorn – Former Everything But The Girl vocalist as always been better with ambiguity than her Lilith baked sisters in abusive relationships.This is just just piano and strings, lowkey but t a sweet melody and smart lyric
My Generation – Nas, Damian Marley – In the market for a buncha kids singing “My generation will make a change?”. This is the second unlistenable dross off their album.
WooHoo (Feat. Nicki Minaj) – Christina Aguieara – Nicki and T.I. T.I. and Nicki. With Lil Wayne , who dya get to dress up your flat song? Well, it works. Track # 2 from Aguilera ‘s soon come Bionic is a real winner, with a great synth(?) hook which sound like the title. The songs begins with Nick rapping and half way through Nicki finally gives props to Foxy Brown and Lil Kim. Plus Christina really can sing. SONG OF THE WEEK.
Hot ‘N’ Fun (Feat. Nelly Furtado) – N.E.R.D. – Always good for a song here and there but this sounds a little dated… handclaps aren’t bad but it sure feels, how you say, old fashioned.
Your Sweet Boom -Jamie Lidell – Sounds like an Artifical intelligence who wants to be human. All soul and boombox. I’m gonna try another from this guy.
