Tragedy – Christina Perri – One hit wonder is ready for her close up and might just get it with this overweaned ballad replete with violins and sighs and extended syllabels. We had a word for this when I wasa wee lad: Middle Of The Road. Decide accordingly.
Miss You – The Hold Up – "I know that you have issues, so when you leave you can take them with you…" Nicely done. first rate pop reggae, catchy as hell kiss off. TRACK OF THE WEEK
Grass – The Black Ryder – a fuzzy garage rock duo from Australia nail down a hard rock fuzzbox to their guitar.
Dressed Sharply – An Horse – I would dislike this purely based upon the band name, but the vocals irritate me as well.
The Road – Emmylou Harris – A Gram Parsons tribute which would have him doing cartwheels in his grave if he hadn't been cremated.
Till the World Ends (Femme Fatale Remix) – Britney Spears – Nicki is begining to get on my tits. She sucks here.
Human Qualities – Explosion In The Skys – Bland soundscape, like ambient music with no atmosphere.
Break My Heart (Feat Rick Ross) – Estelle – The sample is a pretty good disco synth and if it was, say, that O'Day chick I'd say OK nothing great. But Estelle came across as an original at the start of her career and this is recycled r&b and extremely depressing.
Search And Destroy – Iggy Pop – A lively, irrelevant, version from the 2010 Stooges reunion.
Friend of Mine, pt 1 – Bill Frissel – Where jazz meets parlor and everybody falls asleep.
