OK this is a pretty funny “Today In Rock History”
But before I say it I’m going to state that I love Prince. I loved him all the way back to the beginning. He got a bit whacked out with that whole Purple Rain thing but it gave him fame so who am I to dis that? Remember Wendy and Lisa? Yeah, he made implied girl/girl part of his shtick! Remember Appolonia? Prince was like a pimp the way he packaged girls.. remember he tried it with Sheena Easton too, yeah that hit the wall.
But musically, he kicked ass “Controversy” is an amazing song. He actually got a bit new wavy before really funkafying.. Come to think of it he was a boy pimp too cuz there was Morris Day and The Time (oh ee oh eee oh.. huh Jungle Love).. awesome
But today June 22 in rock history, ten years ago to the day…….in 2000, After giving himself various new identities’ during the 90’s, The Artist Formally Known As Prince announced he wanted to be known as Prince again.
And we all breathed a sigh of relief as he was no longer a weird symbol
So cute. Way to go Prince Rogers Nelson…. silly kid
